Notices to Parents and Students:

September 26, 2004

Dear Parents:

Another year of Sunday School is underway. We would like to extend our warmest welcome to you and your children. Registration has begun on September 5th and is ongoing. The first class was held on September 12.

Our goal is to foster the values of the Christian faith to our young people. To this end, we have a dedicated team of volunteer teachers. They are:
Brittany Green & Stephanie Reid - Preschool/Primary
Nancy Green & Lisa Hamilton - Grades 1/2
Nancy Knight & Kathy Mason - Grades 3/4
Ken Francis & Audrey Li - Grades 5/6
Craig Hinchey - Grade 7 and up
Carmon Stone - Confirmation
Colleen Day - Music
Brian Fields - Accompanist

Enrollment to date is: Preschool/Primary: 9; Grades (1/2): 7; Grades (3/4): 6; Grades (5/6): 5; Grade (7): 5; Confirmation: 13.

We are having a "Meet & Greet" on September 26th. This is an opportunity for parents to meet with the teachers and to find out what our plans are for the year.

This year our program starts at 9:45 am each Sunday, beginning with 15 minutes of singing. A collection basket is passed around during the last song. We have about 40 minutes of class time before the children are taken back to church to join you for Holy Communion. This year we are following the "Witness Curriculum" for preschool to grade 6 class, and a copy of the semester summary will be available for your perusal. Information about the grade 7+ program and the confirmation class will be displayed. Any questions, please feel free to talk to Craig Hinchey or Carmon Stone. As well, an outline of this year's activities together with a calendar of events will be available. Please pick up a copy.

One of the special events that the children will attend in church is baptism (this may not apply to all classes). Reverend Canon Gillis has identified specific location in the church where the children will gather and observe. Upon completion of the ceremony, the children will return to their parents for the remainder of the service.

Please inform your child's teachers about your child's allergies, likes and dislikes or any special needs. For our program to succeed regular attendance is required and we are hopeful that you will share in our goals and commitment.

As always, we are constantly in need of more teachers, so please consider volunteering either occasionally or on a one-term basis.

Finally, please be mindful that we are volunteer teachers, not care providers. Our responsibility ends when your child/children return to you.

With your support, let us build the foundation for a lifetime of faith and Christian growth.

Best Regards,

Sunday School
