of the Week
almost summer and God bless you!
seems that summer is approaching; the rain is bringing the flowers
and soon the Cottage - Fishing - Golfing - Boating Season will be in
full force. We are certainly blessed to live in such a beautiful
part of God's Creation and I sincerely hope you take every
opportunity to appreciate it and give thanks.
we head into the summer, our Church Activities slow down somewhat
but our worship continues, as do the responsibilities of our Parish
Family. Over the past year we have done a lot of talking about and
implementing prayer. Our Prayer Circle is now up and running, so if
you would like a group of dedicated people to confidentially pray
for your concerns or those of others who reach out to you, please
let us know. Contact a member of the Prayer Circle (listed on the
bulletin boards) or contact Revd Rachael.
official Bible Studies have gone on hiatus for the Summer but plans
are in the works for the resumption of Wednesday and Monday
Bible/Book Studies in September, with a great new Alpha programme
set to begin as well. (Should you wish to continue your discipline,
or begin one, of daily Bible reading before we resume our studies,
please pick up a copy of Day By Day, or Our Daily Bread, which can
be found on the table in the Narthex.)
Outreach Committee is quite aware that the needs of the Greater
Community continue even as summer seems to slow everything else
down. In July we will be celebrating "Christmas in July"
as we gather toiletries, mittens, socks, hats, etc. for our
Christmas Shoeboxes for the Mission to Seafarers. We will be
collecting items in the summer for delivery at Christmas. (This is
the Outreach Committee's way of trying to help us feel cool in the
heat of summer - dwelling on thoughts of chilly ships in December
August we will, for the 3rd year running, be collecting backpacks
and school supplies for Parker Street Mission. They equip hundreds
of children with the things we used to take for granted would be
provided by the School. Remember those days when #2 pencils and
scribblers would be handed out that first day of school . . . Those
days are behind us but so many children don't have what they need.
Let's join together to give these students the best start for a
join us for worship on Sundays at 8:30 and 10 am. And don't forget
our Annual Garden Party on 24 July. We look forward to seeing
bless you and have some fun in God's Creation this summer.
