A Message of Thanksgiving for Our Veterans and Canadian Forces Members

This year Remembrance Day falls on a Sunday. As we gather at Church or at Cenotaphs around the city, may we all take time to remember and say "thank you" to those men and women who walked away from personal freedom to ensure that we could maintain ours. We honour those who gave their lives that others may live. We offer our prayers for those are loved but seen no longer by family and friends at home. Because we will take time to remember, we will never forget.

We should also offer our appreciation to all the Veterans and members of the Canadian Forces who have served in times of conflict and in times of peace. Their willingness to stand up for the rights of Canadians and brothers and sisters around the world is something that should never be taken for granted.

In this time of Remembrance we cannot forget or turn away from our new generation of Veterans either. Thousands of young men and women have offered their time, their service and even potentially their lives, that we may know peace can come to our world. Their vigilance and sacrifices must never be overlooked.

To all who have served, we thank you. To all who are serving, God keep you safe. From all of us who benefit from your service, God bless you.

Thank you from the Parish Family of St. James Anglican Church, Armdale

Almighty God, we commend to your gracious care and keeping all the men and women of our armed forces at home and abroad. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
