Retirement

As previously announced my retirement takes effect June 1, 2012. At that time I will have completed 35 years in ordained ministry. I am required to take holidays before signing out. I will likely do so in May. Therefore, Sunday April 29 will likely be my final duty Sunday. I will put in place the usual arrangements for Sunday services and pastoral emergencies for the month of May. The Bishop will be responsible for the appointment of a priest in charge of the parish from June 1st until It a new rector arrives. It is very important that each of you, according to your abilities, continue your leadership roles in the parish throughout the coming transitional period. You may direct any questions about the process of searching for a new rector to one of our three parish wardens.

Every parish I have had the privilege to serve has provided me with wonderful and fulfilling experiences as a pastor. St. James has been a special privilege for Wendy and me because of the length of our stay at St. James.  A fourteen yearlong incumbency has resulted in the development of long-term pastoral relationships with individuals, families, and the parish community. It has been wonderful to be part of a chapter in the history of this parish; but the good news story that is St. James continues to unfold.
