Final Affairs: Wills and Estate Planning

Invitation

Have you been waiting for the right time to create or to change your will? Take the first step and join us on October 24 for Final Affairs: Wills and Estate Planning, an informative evening with presentations on wills, estate planning and the theology of planning by local specialists John Arnold Q.C. and Charles O'Neil. By participating, you will learn more about how to be a good steward, and how your planning today will be of immeasurable benefit to your loved ones in the future.

Please respond by email (sjac@chebucto.ns.ca) or telephone (477-6770, church office). Alternatively, you may add your name to the sign-up sheet in the church. While you are welcome to attend without responding, your cooperation will help us to prepare for the appropriate number of participants.

As the Planned Giving Committee at St. James, we invite you to participate in this important event in the Parish Hall on Monday, October 24rd at 7:30 pm.

Report

On October 24, more than 35 parishioners attended "Final Affairs", an informative evening on wills and estate planning hosted by the Planned Giving Committee of St. James (Armdale). An opening prayer by the Rev. Canon Rod Gillis, rector of St. James, was followed by introductory remarks by the Rev. Canon David Reid, Chair, Diocesan Planned Giving Sub-committee. In the first presentation, Planned Giving Consultant for the Diocese, Mr. Charles O'Neil, initially spoke about planning and stewardship, and then to emphasize the importance of having a will, ended his presentation by showing a light-hearted video. After a refreshment break, Mr. John Arnold Q.C. responded to many questions while guiding the attendees through a number of important points related to assigning power of attorney and drafting a will. We are grateful to Mr. O'Neil and Mr. Arnold for their time in providing this useful and important information..
