St.
Paul tells us that in Christ we are a new creation. St. James has provided
parishioners and visitors alike with an inspiring mural on the theme of
creation. The mural provides an opportunity for prayerful contemplation on
the nature of creation from perspectives that are biblical, Christian and
contemporary.
The
east windows depict the story of creation, holding in creative balance the
biblical creation story and a modern understanding of the created order.
The
west windows depict the ongoing work of creation. This includes the work
of humankind as partners in creation after "the fall", and the
work of Christ in whom there is new creation. Creation is a very
significant subject in contemporary spirituality.
The
Christian mural is an artistic appreciation of the created order, and its
relationship to our faith.
