Saint
James
Our
parish saint, the Apostle St. James, was a brother of John and is thought
to have been closely related to Christ. He is reputed to have
travelled widely, visiting Spain by sea many times, and he was the first
to establish the Christian religion there. St.
James appears with a pilgrim's staff with a traveller's bundle attached,
and with a scallop shell nearby, all symbols of his many pilgrimages.
